EA have promised "exciting remasters of fan favourites". In August 2019, Crytek posted an unusual engine trailer with Crysis teasers at the end.

Electronic Arts appear to be trying their best to curry favour with PC audiences. They're gonna release games on Steam to reach a wider audience. They're remastering Command and Conquer, a PC fan favorite, as well as a number of "exciting" other games.Something is going on with this engine trailer by Crytek from August. It starts out normally enough, showing off new features. It has Hunt. It has some assets from Ryse. It's just normal stuff. Very generic. But then at the end it takes a turn for the eyebrow-raising. The marked section is below.https://youtu.be/vUyWwqY-pYc?t=136The trailer suddenly starts playing First Light by Inon Zur. This is the music that plays in the original Crysis when you walk up out of the jungle and gaze over the cove as the sun is rising. This music belongs to Electronic Arts. EA have the copyright for all Crysis assets. There's a turtle, because of course there is.The camera rises out of the jungle and gazes out over a cove blatantly reminiscent of that from Crysis. Then the nanosuit "crunching" sound plays (sounds like Crysis 3 variant), and the camera cuts to black, with a new actor saying, "CRYENGINE" in the nanosuit voice. They used some leftover Roman geometry from Ryse, but you didn't hear them using the Ryse soundtrack. That section at the end of the trailer is either Crytek being whimsical about their desire to make a new Crysis, so whimsical that were willing to give EA money to license the Crysis soundtrack for a meaningless tease, or they were hinting at something. In the light of EA's "exciting remasters" promise, and the fact they're working so hard to win over a wider PC demographic with Steam releases and remasters of beloved PC titles, I think that there's a chance Crytek are working on a remake of Crysis 1 in the latest version of CryEngine. And some naysayers will say, "Oh, it doesn't need remaking." That's a matter of opinion. The game is dated visually, runs poorly, has issues with its AI design, has pacing and combat issues in the second half -- and a well made remake that is also on Steam thanks to the new partnership would curry an unbelievable amount of goodwill for both EA and Crytek. And it would sell. People underestimate the hunger. Half of the reason why the arguably good Crysis sequels earned so much hatred is because they didn't scratch that itch Crysis 1 scratched. It's been over a decade, and millions of gamers have been getting itchier and itchier. They want to go back to Lingshan. They wanna play as Nomad again. Give them speed mode, or give them death. It's the same reason Star Citizen was able to rake in so much money. Desperate Wing Commander fans who want to feel alive again. via /r/Games https://ift.tt/2Jy1tv4
