Older games with nothing quite like them that exists currently

Even with the huge amount of games coming out constantly, I've found myself lacking anykind of spiritual successors to some of my favorite games. Sometimes there's a project that aims to deliver something like them but all of them seem to just die eventually. Some titles from top of my head:Seven Kingdoms - Strategy game that combines quick RTS style with player interactive economy and diplomacy, also has neutral monsters (that could also be played as in the 2nd game). Biggest downfall for these titles was how one dimensional the combat was compared to everything else going on in them. If they had proper unit variety with wider tech trees for military too they'd be probably close to my dream game.Myth: The Fallen Lords - Another strategy game, but without basebuilding or anything like it. You commanded your troops through missions and I think they had somekind of veterancy system (even if purely cosmetical, can't remember). Multiplayer had point-buy system at the beginning of the matches. Combining small to medium scale combats (unless massive 4v4 or so games) with interesting unit abilities and terrain/weather effecting things was great.GunZ: The Duel - Fast paced TPS with fighting game like mechanics due animation canceling. What initially begun as simplistic non-cover shooter evolved into hectic game where people flew around using walls and utilized both melee and ranged weapons seamlessly to pick others apart. It did have follow up game but the devs tried to control too many things by restricting character loadouts, making being caught in melee complete deathtrap and aquiring some special weaponry a complete RNG fiesta where you compete against other players by rolling for items.Might & Magic 6-9 - My favorites being 6 and 7, these games shared universe of famous Heroes series of same name. They were unique being fully free roam compared to their older titles that were grid based. With vast maps to explore and allowing player to switch between turn based and realtime combat on the fly and having a party of 4 that while moving together had individual actions. Skill point system and having trainers spread around the world made all locations worth exploring.Honorable mentions that have something like them but not quite:Unreal Tournament - Fast paced FPS with team building as sub game, other arena shooters kind of scratch the itch but none really get have the same flavor.Acceleration of Suguri - A really weird indie game that combines shoot 'em up and fighting game mechanics for intense brawl in small arena. I think I've seen 1 or 2 older games bit similar to it but they all have quite different mechanical approaches. There's probably more that I'm forgetting right now. Do you know anything like these titles? Do you have some of your own, titles with nothing quite like them that you would like to see again? via /r/Games https://ift.tt/2MdAOV8
